Rotary Club of Thane Downtown was charted on 7th May 2008. The Charter President Prakash Rao was the first president of the club. With like minded people joining the club, it started its activities slowly by undertaking small projects.
Different Presidents took over and lead the club to what is today. RCTD has already supported projects like Hostel Building / Class Room Building which worked out to near INR 25,00,000.
We have done the following major projects over the period of years which has touched many hearts.
- Building Ashram Shala at the Remote village of Bhatsai which touched 200 Girl and 400 Boy Children.
- Provided clean drinking water to the School at Kakadpada – Vasind which benefited about 260 Kids from the school.
- Matoshree – Vruddha Ashram – RCTD provides entire medicine expense every year and also all emergency medical aid to about 75 inmates all above 75 years of age.
- Yashodhan School – This school basically caters to kids from underprivileged section of the society. We support education of 16 deserving kids in the schools for English & Marathi Medium School. We also support Infrastructure need for the school.
- Divya Prabha – Home for Destitute girl child. Has 22 inmates. We provide grains to this home on monthly basis.
- Matimand Vidhyalal – Home for specially abled children at the Igatpuri school. We provide grains support every month and also conduct health checkup needs of the kids.
- Managed multiple District Grant Project. 25 benches to Yashodhan School, Cupboards / Water Filter to Yashodhan School, School benches to Bhatsai school.
- Managed one joint Global Grant project through RC Thane West for Surface Dams.
Today the club is planning to create team which can take responsibility of big district events other than our own events and programs. RCTD is focusing to look beyond the club level.
RCTD today has 48 members who are from various vocational fields.
RCTD is a EREY – Every Rotarian Every Year Club.
